This Haitian Children's Book is the second one Haitian Author, Edwidge Danticat has written specifically for kids. It depicts the relationship a young girl in Haiti has with her grandmother while she learns about the families Mapou Tree (Silk Tree). She is taught of its beautiful history via stories her granny tells her. Take a trip with your child(ren) learning about Haitian culture through their eyes. Their little eyes will see the great illustration by a renowned Haitian artist, Edouard Duval-Carrié and further their knowledge of Haiti's great GIANTS. Remember to ask them questions after reading the story to get a glimpse of their comprehension of the story.
