First Haitian female doctor. 


First woman accepted into the University of Haiti Medical School(Graduated in 1940)

She was given an award by the Haitian Medical Association  after her death, postumously. Haiti had a women's suffrage movement and Dr. Sylvain was part of it. The Ligue Féminine d'Action Sociale, it was called that helped gain Haitian women's right to vote in 1950. She wrote for their paper,  La Voix des Femmes(The Voices of Women or Women's Voices)
